GEO: generative engine optimization

An answer engine lifts your answer. A generative engine writes its own answer and names its sources. GEO is about being a source it's willing to name.

What we check

Entity clarity

Organization or LocalBusiness structured data with your real name, logo and sameAs links to your other profiles, and the same name, address and phone number everywhere. Pass: an engine can tell exactly who you are.

Authorship

Named authors with bio pages, an About page, and a business behind the site. Pass: every article answers "who says so?"

Quotable facts

Specific, checkable statements with sources: numbers, dates, named studies. Pass: a sentence from the page could be quoted without needing the paragraph around it.

Citations out

Links to the primary sources behind your claims. Pages that show their evidence are easier to trust, for people and machines.

Readable in the first place

The same basics as AEO: the right crawlers allowed, and the content in the HTML.

What we don't do

No "AI keyword" stuffing, no hidden instructions for language models, no pages generated by the thousand. More in GEO without the snake oil.

Run it yourself

Check your organization markup with the free Schema Validator (my own product). It shows what structured data a page declares, whether it parses and which recommended fields are missing.
