This multi-year agreement ensures that A24's films will premiere on HBO and HBO Max in the U.S. during the Pay-1 window. But what exactly does that mean? The Pay-1 window is the period immediately following a film's theatrical release and its availability on premium video on demand (PVOD). So, after you've had a chance to see a new A24 film in theaters or rent it at home, HBO Max is where you'll find it next.
The impact of this partnership is already clear. In 2025, HBO Max revealed that half of A24's Pay-1 titles ranked among the top 10 movies on the platform within their first two weeks of release. Impressive, right? Even more telling, nearly 70% of HBO Max viewers who watched an A24 film came back for more, watching an average of four A24 titles! This demonstrates the strong appeal of A24's content and its ability to draw viewers back for more.
